For those who are interested in how Haydyn arrived at his theories you can read his testimony on the Liberty site. He has gone through quite a journey himself and is still attracted to men even though he states that 'he is not gay'. I believe his self denial leaves him in a constant struggle with his sexuality and that he will never be at peace with himself.

About a month and a half ago I was at a meeting held by the Sydney City Bible forum and they invited Haydyn to be a guest speaker on the topic of Same Sex Marriage. (Being a typical conservative, mainstream Evangelical organisation, they always enlist spokespersons from an ex-gay ministry to detail how a gay person needs to be more Christ-like or 'in his image'). So Haydyn shared his belief that ALL people are born straight, including himself, as this was 'God's plan' and that those who are gay have turned against God's plan, and are therefore all sinners.

In contrast to this, there is nowhere in the bible which states that being straight is a prerequisite to enter the kingdom of God nor is there anything about sexual orientation (as opposed to sexual acts and indecency). And what about sexual and gender diversity? What about an intersex person whose gender is perhaps less clear? Do we simply force him/her to have surgery and choose a different way, forced to live like that for the rest of his/her life? It really saddens me that LGBTI Christians who are either confused about or have a different sexuality (or gender) from the majority are often coerced into changing or attending these ex gay ministries.

I think it's important that we use critical thinking to examine these so-called ministries. They can easily be used to mislead the most vulnerable people in our community.
