That does look like an interesting church, thanks for posting it Mags, I didn’t come across a whole lot of Christians on The Pink Sofa when I was there briefly. I might have to go check it out, pity it’s just about as far away as most of the others!

That name is great too, “The Open Door”, exactly what a church should be 🙂

I agree Sage it should be open doors always D There are a few on the sofa and some come out once they know that you are too.

To Sage, I used to attend the Uniting church in Campbelltown. The ministers there are cool. One of them married me and my partner last year, we are both men, so I would say they are gay friendly. Once in church Graham, the minister I speak of, was leading worship, and in the song the lyrics mentioned God’s love for everyone. It even mentioned gays. Could not believe it. It was certainly a change from Sydney Anglicanism that I am used to.

They were to begin shortly orfeo but i’ve been snowed under. If you’d like to email [email protected] and put Canberra in the subject line then we’ll make sure you are notified. We already have several people there who have been to our Sydney meetings so can connect you with them via email if you like.

BTW…..welcome to the forum…..how did you hear about us.

Thanks, will send an e-mail from my home address. It would be great to start establishing some connections.

And thanks for the welcome too. I found about the forum in an indirect way from the 60 Minutes story that you were a part of. However, I don’t actually watch 60 Minutes so I’ve not seen the program! Think I read the transcript and/or the record of the online discussion afterwards.

As to how I ever found out about the program… possibly Rodney Croome’s blog? I seem to remember he was rather appreciative of the mainstream media doing a balanced story.

Wow, that’s really great. I think I’ll have to check this church out. It is a bit scary walking into one that isn’t ~openly~ gay accepting though, but I’ll have to try it!

It’s hard driving an hour to church, I’d love to have one closer, so that’s perfect 😀 Thanks.
